Moka Pot
IDEAL FOR: Enthusiastic campers and Americano aficionados
GRIND SIZE: Similar to granulated sugar (setting 5 on EK43)
COFFEE TO WATER RATIO: 100g/litre
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Loosely fill the basket insert with finely ground coffee, levelling it off at the brim. Tap gently to settle the grounds.
- Pour boiling water into the brewer base, then carefully screw the top and bottom together (a tea towel might be handy for this).
- Place the moka pot on a low heat, preferably gas.
- Watch for the coffee to start emerging from the top spout, and remove it from the heat as soon as you hear the first sputtering sounds.
- To stop the brewing process, immerse the base of the brewer in cold water or wrap it in a damp tea towel before pouring. Leaving it on the heat for too long can cause your coffee to taste bitter.
SUGGESTION: For a surprisingly good DIY cappuccino, add your Moka Pot "espresso" to a briskly plunged French press of hot milk.
